It was she who looked away

Look

“We grew still and stared at each other. It seemed incredibly dangerous to look into each other’s eyes, but we were doing it. For how long can you behold another person? Before you have to think of yourself again, like dipping the brush back in for more ink. For a very long time; you didn’t need to get more ink, there was no reason to get anything else, because she was as good as me, she lived on earth like me, she suffered as I did. It was she who looked away and pulled the sheet to her chin.”

Should I tell you why I feel so down

I was blind until the news of mortality
opened my mind as you would
open a vial of Tylenol noticing
it spells lonely backwards with
only the initial T added

losing cathexis

The art of losing isn't hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

Lose something every day.  Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn't hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel.  None of these will bring disaster.
Elizabeth Bishop

Nina Persson : Losing my religion

"The intense cathexis of longing which is concentrated on the missed or lost object (a cathexis which steadily mounts up because it cannot be appeased) creates the same economic conditions as are created by the cathexis of pain which is concentrated on the injured part of the body"

"the Nintendo Entertainment System version came to North America in June 1988" - Metal Gear

So, I took a 20 year break between games (I fondly remember playing Metal Gear on the NES). I tried MGS2 and 3 but nothing beyond 2 hrs. They just did not click for me. MSG4 is another story. I've been very driven to finish it even if I'm not familiar with the whole story (thank you Wikipedia). Raiden's fight sequences have been my favorite (so far, I'm in Act 4).
